LOTW started in the fall of 2000 with 5 families over a Bible study in Pastor Greg’s house. In December of 2000, 10 families gathered to worship in a movie theater. Six months later, the church moved to a shopping center on Hwy 377. In 2003 we moved to our present location and expanded our facilities in October 2014. Light of the World is a medium sized ministry averaging around 400 in worship each Sunday.
The vision for LOTW is to reach out to those who are not currently active in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Equally important our ministry emphasizes serving the community in various forms by being the hands and feet of Christ to those who are hurting and in need. (Hebrews 6:10)
After His death and resurrection and before ascending into heaven, Jesus instructed His followers and the early church to go to all nations and make disciples. We believe the church’s focus should be outside of the walls of the church and that on every street, in every workplace, and in every school, our members should share the good news of Christ to those they encounter on a daily basis.
God’s word teaches us “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) Our ministry on a monthly basis has opportunities for our members to go out and serve the community around us and the culture of the congregation is to respond to those needs enthusiastically.
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word, and we submit to it as the sole source and rule for life. See our Beliefs page for more details.
We are willing to use a variety of music, preaching, and service styles to worship God and inspire others to fall deeper in love with Him. For us, more than any preference of style, it is important that worship be as God commands it: “In Spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).
Here is what some recent guests thought about us:
"Your sermon of freedom, patriotism, and fighting for good over evil was an inspiration that will not soon be forgotten. It is what needed to be said from the pulpit for months and I'm so proud of being there to watch it happen. Praise god for the message of truth and right that he channeled through you today."
"Thank you for speaking the TRUTH today in the sermon!"
"Loved Pastor Greg's sermon today! Thank you for pleading the truth! Also thank you for offering such solid Bible studies (Pastor's class and Hebrews)"
